hello
i recently bought parts and proceeded to upgrade my dads comp. It was a 366 celly 192mb pc100 ram and radeon VE 32mb. It ran fine and did what he needed it to do. After upgrading my comp a few times i had a few spare parts including an Abit KG7 so i decided to upgrade his.
Now its a KG7 with athlon 1.33 proc and a new sound card. Video stayed the same as well as everything else. When i went to start it up with windows xp i thought i would be able to get into windows without a format...cuz he has some info on there that i don't wanna lose and havn't had a chance to back up.
So anyway i start it up and set all the bios settings to optimal. It goes to get into windows xp pro and gives me a hard drive error and says that if i have never had this error i should do a chkdsk /f from command prompt but i can't get into command prompt because it gives me this screen first. What should i do?
...or should i just transfer the hard drive (8gb seagate) to my comp and do a windows format there?....i really don't wanna lose info but if i have to i can back it up on my computer
...but is there anyway to get into windows the way it is?....i tried safe mode and using all fail safe settings and nothing works...i also thought it was because this hd is an ata33....maybe i need to change some jumper settings?...
well any help would be appreciated...thanks
