I already have my dream machine. It does everything I want quickly.
My only exorbonent wish would be a custom desk\chair and a much large display. Either from a projector or from a dozen or so LCD monitors off of a signal splitter (a device for making video walls from multiple screens).

Beowulf Linux

www.beowulf.org

A number of high-end 3D CAD programs have their own network rendering features. The advantage of a beowulf setup would be for LARGE calculation projects or video editing, etc.

Dual Barton 3000's, 8gigs of PC4200 ram, eight 250gig Maxtor HDDs with 8mb cache set up in raid, DVD-Rom, DVD-RW drive, LN2 cooling, Dual Radeon 9800 AGPx8's for Quad 32inch monitors running at 2100+ resolutions and 5 OC3 internet backbones running into it via 100Gbs network :D:D:D:D

My dream computer would be this

1 P4 3.06Ghz Powered Machine with a full peltier cooling system
1Gb of DDR400 Ram
4 40Gb Western Digital Hard drives with 8mb Cache, in a Raid 0 array
Radeon 9700 Pro Graphics card,
Creative Auidgy2 cound card
2 21" sony Monitors
Yamaha CRWF- 1 CDBurner
SOny DVD -R/+R DVDburner
Gigabit LAN
a custom 5.1 suround sound system

Then a Home server with 4 WD 200Gb Hard drives, dual Xeon 2.8Ghz with 4Gb of DDR266 RAM to control my video and Music needs for the house

Intel P4 3.2 @ 5.04 (16x315)
1GB PC4000
2 x 5GB Solid State HDD's in RAID 0
M-Audio Revo.
ATi AIW Radeon 9900 Pro @ 520/1200
PCP&C 510 ATX

Look in my sig for my dream computer. I spent slightly over $800. I already had the hardrive, monitor, mouse keyboard, and printer. I would like to ad 2 40GB HDDs in RAID 0, 512MB more MB of ram, and Radeon 9800.

Axle

All I need for my current computer would be a very top of the line video card and I would be set for gaming. Then I would probably want something along the lines of a Beowulf cluster or a Quad Xenon game server or something.

52x24x52
