I am connecting 2 PCs via LAN + X cables, the problem is that when I disconnect my dial-up internet connection on the first PC (192.168.0.1), then I can`t access the 2nd computer (192.168.0.2), but the 2nd one can access mine.

When I check my IP address, it changed the 192.168.0.1 to something else I think. Can you guys help me?

Thnx.

I'm thinking it's a default gateway problem.

Could you post the results of the command "ROUTE PRINT" when you are dialled-up, and when you are not dialled up?

Hmm.. so your LAN works when you are disconnected, but not connected?

When your disconnected your routing table is very small.

Here is the problem line though:
Code:
     xxx.xxx.xx.2 255.255.255.255 xxx.xxx.xx.229 xxx.xxx.xx.229 1
If I read this correctly, anything destined for your other computer would be sent out onto the internet (via your x.x.x.229 address).

I can't think of any easy way to fix it. On that computer, I would go into device manager and uninstall your NIC, and then reboot and let windows pick it up again. That may fix it.

Hey thanks guys! I`ve managed to get it fixed, reinstalled the NICS, and setup home networking step by step, even with the network setup disk.

Thanks again!
