BF1942 BFStats Ranking Tips

BFStats.com is a website dedicated to tracking BF1942 players and their stats. If you play on a tracked server, then your stats are tracked (whether you know it or not), and a rating/ranking is given to you based on your game play. This is a list of tips designed to increase your ranking on BFStats (if this is something you follow on a daily basis or care about).

1) First, you must play on a tracked server to be tracked. Not all servers are tracked right now, so you should search for a tracked server on the BFStats website before you join. You can join a server directly from the website, and it will start your game for you and connect you.

2) The equation for scoring is not known, but is explained by BFStats as being 70% capture-related and 30% score-related, with a bonus for K : D ratio. So, the first scoring tip would be to capture flags, and capture them quickly. TP% (team play percentage) and TPM (team play per minute) are the 2 most sought after scores for a good ranking.

3) Kill more, while dieing less. K : D (kill to death ratio) is the next score to be had. It is not as important on BFStats for a good ranking, but does count nevertheless. Usually, a score of 2:1 or better will net you a nice rating for a map.

4) There must be at least 8 players on the server, so avoid servers with less than this, or your round will not count.

5) You must have a score for at least 10 minutes - games where you are idle are ignored. So, running up a good score in the first 2-3 minutes and then hiding somewhere won't work...you have to play to rank!

6) Avoid servers with FF on or servers with active base campers. These will lower your score more than anything else in the game...disconnect immediately!

7) Avoid planes for the most part. Although they may be good for your K : D (especially the B17), they do nothing for your team play, which is where most of your score comes from. Also, the airfield is by far the worst place to be on most servers, due to plane campers TK'ing for planes, and base campers using the hanger to camp.

8) Pick maps with many rushable capture points. Aberdeen, Market Garden, and BattleAxe are good western scoring maps, while Iwo Jima an Guadalcanal are good pacific scoring maps (at least for me).

9) Play as a team to score higher. Rushing a flag by yourself will only get you killed, and you'll net no points. Travelling with a group of tanks or foot soldiers, however, is a safer way to make it to a flag, and capture it. Rambos die quick and score less.

Scoring isn't everything to everyone, so some people will be quick to tear this thread apart. So I will repeat, these tips are for the people that DO CARE about ratings/rankings on BFStats. If you don't, then that's fine, but don't flame the people that do. I hope to see you in the rankings!

MY STATS

I am a pilot, and spend 80% of my time in a plane (even though I would advise against this). My stats are high because I'm good

Post your stats links here, and anymore tips you have for high scoring...

i think their whole system is flawed somehow, or isn't very accurate. at one point i was rated in the top 5% which is an indication it can't be accurate.

Why is that an indication of inaccuracy? Do you consider yourself a bad player? Maybe you are better than you think you are...

The way they rank you is only as good as what they can track. They are working with DICE to try and track other aspects of the game, such as artillery strikes and support calls, but right now the game engine won't allow that. They can only go by team play and kills, which is what most people want to know about anyway...and all that can only be based on how long you have played the game. A score of 4/2/1 would be good for a 10 minute game, but bad for a 30 minute game...

I dont trust the rankings much myself, I have been in the top 2% aswell as slipping into the top 1% a few times since I found out about BFstats awhile back.
I really dont think im all that good which leaves me thinking something is up there hehe.

Banyan, looking at your stats, you are ranked so high because you played an incredible round on Husky, rating 15030 on that map. You haven't played enough of the other maps to bring your score down yet, so that map is most of your score...

Husky
Time - 00:25
Rating - 15030
TP% - 25%
TPM - 0.80
SPM - 3.24
S: D - 4.05
K: D - 3.05

JeffnNetti, I don't know your game name, so I couldn't check your stats...

who cares about ranking

why does ranking even matter? I'm a good bf1942 player, but I don't think i'm all that. I was ranked in the top 1-4% before i changed my name on the game. I think the system is way flawed. I believe cssports.com has a better system than bfstats. on cs sports you have to work your way up from the bottom. You can't just play an hour and be ranked #1 like you can on bfstats.

for almost 13 hours of playing time, your team play is at 45% percent...that's how you ranked so high! That is excellent...and contrary to popular belief, that's also how you become a good player Congrats

Geez, after all those hours of play, I've only played 2 hours on ranked servers! *Sigh* Apparently I had a really awesome game on Omaha with 7.33k:1d though.

THe thing with their stats is you can be top 30% after playing solid for a month, and kicking some ass too, but as you get sick of BF and play less your stats will go up. So anyone that has played less than 5 hours or so may not be quite as good as you'd think.

Your stats don't go up when you are idle...unless someone ahead of you drops down. You still have to play to rank...

I don't know how other websites track or rank players, but I know how BFStats does it. If you are a team player, you will rank high, end of story. It doesn't (and rightfully shouldn't) matter how long you've played...the point is, while they did play, they played for the team. This is what I am most interested in. There are way to many n00bs and smacktards out there ruining the game for me to pass up playing with a team player...

that's what happened to me and a few others i know... if you look at *most* of the people in the top tier they play/played way less than most others... and i actually am not ranked anymore. as long as you play on servers that are involved with them and have i think 4-5 hours of playtime you will be ranked.

Ya know.. I wouldn't worry about BF stats too much...

They change too often.. for no visible reason
Suddenly after 8 days I'm unlisted?? BS

I went from top 15% to top 32% to top 29% to top 18% in the space of about a week w/o playing.

I'm seriously starting to not care what my bfstats are anymore..

...so while you don't play, other people aren't allowed to move up and down in the rankings? You make no sense there, bro...

The ranks make perfect sense, because it is based on TEAM PLAY (which most people can't grasp the concept of, unfortunately)...what I don't like is that it is also based on a 10 minute minimum time limit. They should force you to play the entire length of time it takes to complete the map....instead of ducking in for 10 minutes, scoring big, and disconnecting. But every ranking system will be flawed for the simple fact that EA/Dice didn't code the game with provisions for tracking important stats (like arty calls and strikes, medic's healing rate, enigineer's effectiveness, etc)...so each tracking system does what it can with what it's got to work with.

I'm not talking about how it ranks...
I'm talking about the fact that the ranks jump all over the map and appear to randomly drop us off the listings

Supposedly you don't get unlisted unless you don't play for 30 days

Well after 8 days I lost my rank and went unlisted... wicked went unlistyed after 9 days.. Thats not how its suopposed to work
