K just a quick question- I have a DVD-rom and a HDD to install. Should i put them both on the same IDE lead (primary) or one on each lead (primary&secondary) for best performance?

Thanks, ArBiTaL24

I would make them both masters on seperate channels, with the hard drive on the primary channel, and the DVD on the secondary channel.

Only 1 device can use the interface at the same time. So, if your using both devices, they have to wait for each other to finsh using the channel, slowwing performance.

Generally speaking, its best to set up your drives like this:

Primary master: most used drive (usually the hard drive with the OS)
Primary slave: least used drive
Secondary master: 2nd often-used drive
Secondary salve: 3rd often-used drive
