9600PRO overclocks like MAD!

It seems that once you install the correct tweaker, reviewers are overclocking the R9600PRO well over 500MHZ w/ no problems, stock cooling!!

http://www.beyond3d.com/reviews/ati/...index.php?p=22

Updated overclocking beyond3D review..

Some reports of up to 600mhz w/ no voltmods or special cooling

Geez guys, did you read the review? I only linked to the overclock page. The review compares it to a 9500PRO, don't be so LAZY!!!

Anyway, here are plenty of other reviews to read, all of which (along w/ the B3D review) compare the R9600PRO to an R9500PRO:

http://www.beyond3d.com/reviews/ati/rv350/
http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030416/index.html
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1812
http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDU4
http://www.ukgamer.com/article.php4?id=233&page=1

Stcock vs stock, the R9500PRO is a more powerfull card...

But the headroom this card gives is unbelievable!!! Overclocked vs. overclocked, the R9600PRO is going to be the best deal in town.......higher core speed than an NV30 (What .13 was supposed to bring in the first place!!) at less than $150 (in a few weeks )

This is a great value card, IMO, and I still can't get over how much headroom is left in that litttle RV350 core

core speed wont help perf if the mem is still slow and only has 4 pipes, that is y in the first place the 9600pro gets owned by the 9500pro in almost every benche, and thats at stock speeds,i have raised my core by 75 and mem by 30 and it will most like perform better than the 500/3?? or on par

great post PreservedSwine, after reading a couple of the articles IIMHO the 9500 pro is still an excellent buy especially once it has been overclocked.

I see my 9500 Pro lasting quite a while and the next upgrade I would make would be a 9700 Pro once price has fallen even further... nice read !!!

HardOCP now has a review that shows a very good comparison of an overclocked 9600 Pro vs a Stock 9500 Pro. Now what im interested to see is a comparison of BOTH cards overclocked. I would presume that we would see the same results as both at stock speeds although its nice to see the headroom ATI has with the RV350 core. IMO the 9500 pro is still the best bang for the buck until resellers run out of stock on them.

Come on, the 9600pro is SERIOUSLY castrated. 4 pipes ain't gonna get you anywhere

i agree with 12si, id rather have a mild oc with r9500pro than extreme r9600, upcoming games will need the pipes, 256bit memory and anything you can throw in...

true... but if you double speed and take away half the pipelines, it wouldn't matter

That is an amazing core. If ATI had put that on the 9800 pro I think we would have seen a bit more excitement about the card

The 9600pro overclocked like that is pretty amazing too. In a bunch of benchmarks it can keep up with a 9700pro (stock) and in others you can see where the pipelines really hurt it, but it still performs really well for the price.

I agee tho that the 9500 pro with a mild (compared to the 9600pro) overclock is still a great buy since it will perform about the same, sometimes a bit better and is close to the same price.

I got to tell you, this is awesome.

I think the R9500PRO is a great card, but a 50% overclock on the R9600PRO and will make it, IMO, a faster card when both are overclocked.

Check out HardOCP results, 567mhz CORE, 716 memory, with lots of benchies.

Remember, this card wil cost considerably less than the R9500PRO soon. This little core is amazing!

For me, the kicker will be price. With 9500 Pro cards still around $175, if the 9600 Pro comes out at under $150, I am definately getting one of those, hopefuly one with some nice ram on it.

All I can say is:

When ATI makes its next top-of-the-line card with this .13 design......it's going to straight up PWN.

My next card

I mean, isn't this what .13 was supposed to be? Higher core and lower temps....finally!

I still can't believe they're hitting close to 600 on stock cooling (have you seen how tiny that little fan is??), and no extra poer connector needed.

It already has 2.8ns RAM, same as the R9700

But I'm thinking a 256 bit bus and some extra pipes will be sweet

Heh, with a 256 bit bus and/or some extra pipes, this sucka could pwn. Hrm. possibly the Radeon 10000 PRO! 600mhz core, 800mhz 256bit, 8-pipe DDRII! Heh heh, if only.
