I set a friend up with an Enermax Rainbow light case. After a week it cought fire. The source was the pushbutton switch in the Enermax case which we installed exactly as stock. This was against my better judgement because it was in a PCI slot pushed up right next to the mobo, but it was touching nothing so i thought it was more of an inconvenient location than dangereous.
But anyway the mobo is now blackened and a chip and a few processors fell off. I think Enermax should buy my buddy a new system, since I have built many systems and I know nothing was wrong with this. I suspect the combination of placement and a possibly faulty button (you had to mash down on it hard) caused the short/spark/whatever. I don't know if the rest of the system is fried but luckily most of it was my old rig, which I sold to him for $150 anyway.
In any case: I contacted [email protected] and the person there doesn't have a clue, and I doubt he/she speaks english because I sent the same email to Newegg and they immediately knew what I wanted. I have two companies tossing me back and forth like a rubber ball and don't like it at all.
Anybody know how to get intelligent response from Enermax corporate?
