Just what the title says. Need to do it so that I can run 3DMark 2k1 again. Got some new hardware to test out.

you dont need to uninstall dx9 to run 3dmark2001.

3dmark2001se build 330 runs quite happily on dx9. if you dnt have it, you can either get a patch for your version, or just D/L build 330

Exactly right. All the function calls should be backwards-compatible. (Actually, I believe the 8.1 functions should be a subset of 9.x.)

For the record, you can't uninstall dx9 per se. What you can do (and MS recommends) is make a system restore snapshot right before installing it and restore to that snapshot if you want to get rid of it. (Of course, you'd lose other major system changes since then, too.) Not very elegant, but the only method I've heard of. -- Paul

/* Question on the side: If you install dx9 on a comp that doesnt support dx9, would it have worse benchies than when it ran on dx8.1? */

mabey/mabey not. luck of the draw, really. i gain a few hundred points in 3dmark2001, others lost the same amount.
