Correct way to install AX-7?

This might be a dumb question, and I haven't installed my AX-7 in over a year, so I might not be remembering correctly, but...

I think you can install the AX-7 2 ways - the clips will work both ways - but maybe I'm misremembering. Anyway, which is the "right" way to do it? Are there any techniques I should use to properly install it? Like slide it back after one of the clips is on or something?

Or is it pretty much just straight forward popping it on the socket?
