As long as it is the standard PS/2 or USB plug that it uses, the two mouse buttons and the movement of the mouse should work OK. Things like scroll wheels and extra buttons may not work without some tweaking.

I am using it right now although in windows.
I dual boot with RedHat 8 and it works fine there as well: scrolling was my big issue and there was nothing required to get it working- just what I wanted :)
Excellent mouse too (does UT2K3 just fine :))

I have the M$ Tackball Explorer. The optical ball, scroll wheel, and first three buttons work fine in nix. I haven't gotten the last two forward & back buttons to work though. Even z-mapped them in X but there's a driver that needs to be working to make this happen.

All five buttons of any mouse I've used worked out of the box in windows. Eventuall nix will get that fixed.
