Hello! I have a Cyrix M-II 233MHz processor in a M-571 PCChips TX-PRO II. I've just updated the BIOS. Is there a way to overclock this processor using that motherboard? In the manual the maximum bus speed is 75MHz, but I read something about 83 MHz on Cyrix when updating the BIOS.:)

Another thing, I'm using 64 MB RAM in that computer: 32 PC-100 and 32 PC-66 DIMM Memmory. Does the mainboard support 128 PC-133 DIMM Memmory? A guy at another forum told me that PC-133 is supported by the board in the latest BIOS.

I think this site has the answers you're looking for. http://m571.com/m571/

But don't expect to much from the Cyrix though, they may have been the worst overclocker ever.

Have fun.

Edit: welcome to the forums!

You should be able to plug PC133 memory into any board that will support PC66 or PC100 standards. The only difference is the rated clockspeed of the memory. If you put PC133 memory in, it'll only run as fast as you tell it to.

The one caveat about PC133 on older boards is that most of what is now available is high density. As they mention on that site I linked to, that chipset will only "see" half of a stick of high density RAM.
You can check manufacturers recommendations for the RAM, low density PC133 is still available.

I just remembered, there are optimization programs for Cyrix CPU's.
This site has them. http://www.realworldtech.com/files/altcpu/files.htm
I don't know what difference they make, I used one once, but that was before I knew about benchmarking, so I didn't have a way to see if it made a difference or not. Try it and see.
