the low end sennheisers are about the same as any other headphone in that price range. maybe a little better, but you won't get the legendary sennheiser sound quality until you break 50-75 dollars and even then you don't get into the high quality until 150+.

the HD457's are probably the best in that lineup. i've seen several people that were satisfied with those as a starter set of cans. (cans=headphones)

generally sennheiser and cheap don't go in the same sentence. I have never tried any of the models you are listing, but based on the high quality of their higher end headphones, you shouldn't be too dissapointed.

very true.
but i can't afford an expensive one.
if i had that money i would get the 560s instead.
btw, is there anyway to tell the quality of the headset by just looking at the specs?
hm..

I got some Sony MDR- V600 headphones that I really like for $100 at CC. I was going to get sennheiser but the cheapest ones that are any good are for classical music and I wanted them for gaming. $150 seemed to much for headphones so I just got these and have liked a lot.

Found the HD-490 Live on eBay for $40 shipped (box was opened but the headphones never used). Excellent headphones, though NOT ghetto bass blasters... but for $40 the fidelity far surpasses anything else in the $50-100 price range.

I recommend the HD500 if you can afford them, well cushioned and good range... entry level price for mid-range quality cans.
