NFS2 not finding network

We have a network w/ 2 computers using a crossover CAT5 cable. We go into need for speed to, choose network, and for the protocol it uses "Winstock IPX", both computers have it (one XP home the other XP pro). But when I go to join the game (or visa versa) it can't find it.

I may be misreading but you will need IPX installed on both machines if you don't already. And it is probably Winsock IPX not stock... hope this helps...if ya need help binding the protocol to yer network card just send me a PM.

have you tried the standard IPX/SPX protocal?

What game is it? It may not use IPX. It might use TCP/IP

can you ping the other computer?

when he says "winstock IPX" i beleive he means winsock and that is the IPX protocol that XP relies on and 2k supports.
