In 3dmark2001se 2003 my ati card read as ati 9500pro/ 9700 secondary. It is an atlantis sapphire 9700.

Is this right? Should it be reading 9500 pro?

the 9500 is the same core as the 9700

think of it as geforce 4

4200 vs 4600...although with ATI it's a little more then clock speed (Infact i belive they are the same)

i think, i could be wrong...but the 9700 has a 256b pipeline and the 9500 has a 128

dont worry my friend, everything is grand :D

the difference Between all the cards is

9500 np- 4 pixel pipelines, 128-bit memory 275/270
9500 pro- 8 pixel pipelines, 128-bit memory 275/270
9700 np- 8 pixel pipelines, 256-bit memory 275/270
9700 pro- 8 pixel pipelines, 256-bit memory 325/310

there ya go

didn't some of the early 9500pros have a 256 interface that you could mod into a 9700?

the first 9500non-pro's were capable of being modded into 9700non-pro's, there is no mod for the 9500Pro though.
