for some reason the sound track on one of my AVi's is about 5 sec ahead of the video does any one know how to re-align it?
 
virtual dub might be able to do it.. not totaly sure though (about if it can actualy or how to do it - im pretty sure it can)

btw if you ripped it from a "home video" you could have had the framrate set wrong.. fi its dled you will have to find a program though:D
 
try ripping the video and sound apart from each other and re-encode it together. that often times fixes that. otherwise, you might need to add some silence before or delete some audio at first to get it aligned properly...
