High-speed DDR

Here's one for you. I've noticed that many new graphics cards come with sub-3ns DDR memory. If they can make the memory for video cards this fast, why can't they use these chips to make faster RAM sticks? Considering that people will be wanting DDR600 memory soon.

memory in the 9700 is half the price of the card.......could you imagine paying that much for 128meg for ram? or even half that for 128meg of ram? thats like 1$ a meg. no thank you. system memory also has alot less tolerance for errors. If you don't believe me, overclock the memory on your graphics card as high as you can then run 3dmark. you will get all kinds of tearing because of errors. try running system memory like that and you wont even boot windows

You have to think about two things. One the price to get more than about 64mb or 128mb would be unbearable. And second the motherboard chipsets and slightly behind that which a video card can because sending data to it's memory is not it's only job.
