Muskin PC3500 and Memetest Errors

How reliable is memtest for detecting memory errors. I have the following system:

Abit Nf7-s v2.0
XP2700 oc 11.5 X 206fsb -Vcore @ 1.85
2 X 512 Mushkin PC3500 @2.7 and memory timings @2-3-3-7.
This memory is rated a [email protected] however @205fsb @2-3-3-7 memtest produces errors in test 1,3, and 5. I don't get error in the OS (windows XP). If I lower the trd to 5 and trp to 5 none of the tests produce error in memtest.

The test is pretty accurate...those errors might just be calculating errors that the memory is having problems...nothing to make XP real unstable, but enough to effect the memory in certain calculation task it does...(etc - prime95, folding)...so when you are relaxing the timing some it is solving those issues...

Anyway, I'll tell you this, drop your Vdimm. Put it to the lowest setting your board will take which is 2.6v. Next, don't be surprised if you need to run your CAS timing at 2.5 for anything above 205MHZ (410DDR). Also, place them in slots 1&3, NOT 2&3. I bet you will find that you will have to run similar timings listed in my review.

I should add also, IF you get ANY errors on MEMTEST86, you are NOT stable. MEMTEST86 is NOT inacurate. The only problem is with MEMTEST86, is that you might not get errors cuz you are riding along the fence of stability but it might not cross it. You still need to test via PRIME95 for full load stability. IF your memory can pass both, then it is stable.
