USB cd rom + DOS

hey
got a laptop and i need to format it but i has no cd rom so i got an external buner (USB) and just i quick how can i get the system to pik it up in dos so i can install win200???????????

i dont think dos has drivers for USB i might be wrong about that, not sure.... but ermm you could #1 make a boot disk and format from that, #2 or if its possible not sure it is though, make the cd- drive 1st to boot then put in your whatever cd and install from that..
