OC'ing A7N8X Deluxe

I have the above board with an Athalon XP2000+ B core, downgraded 2600. I had it running 2166MHz but fooled around in the BIOS and had to clear it, now I can't get but 1733 out of it.
I set the jumper to 133 and the BIOS to 166 and it still won't go above 1733MHz. I forgot what I did the first time . . . .

Would someone please tell me exactly what to set in the BIOS?
Also, I'm ignorant about voltages, multiples and what not.
If I can just get it back were it was at 2166MHz, or there abouts, I'll be happy.

For my info, say I wanted to push it to 2200MHz.
What would I change or set in the BIOS?

I don't have a special after market HS & fan, I'm using the AMD boxed version with the pink thermal pad.
Don't want to push that puppy to hard and burn something up.

I'm a senior citizen who just LOVES computers and built me two and when I fired them off and it worked I hollered like the first time me and sweet Mary Lou went to a corn shuckin'. ;-}

Your expertise appreciated. Thanks.

make sure your memory is running at 100% or sync...this will make sure your memory is running at 133 or 166 or whatever you put the FSB at...default it is not set at 100%...

There are a few different way to do that...you can set the multi. to say 10 and the FSB to 220...are you can leave the multi. at default and just up the FSB until you reach your desired speed you are wanting...

Just remember though...when upping the FSB and CPU OC and it becomes unstable...you will have to either up the voltage on the memory and/or CPU...

FSB

I have it set on 166 and it won't go any higher, only three numbers to chose from. Am I looking at the wrong setting?

You'll have to set "system performance" to "user defined"

Overclocking A7N8X

On my board (A7N8X non-dlx BIOS 1004) the fsb setting is labelled "CPU external frequency". Use this and leave the memory frequency at 100% for FSB adjustments.

Its kind of hard to remember the exact settings when the Asus board I had only lasted about 4 hours and then got the famous BIOS corruption issue...hopefully the new BIOS chip will be here by Friday before the 319 gets here...

Thanks for the help.

I cut and pasted all this info in a word document so will have it for a reference tomorrow when I jack this sucker up.
Thanks for all the help. Where I was stumped was with the "user defined" configuration. OldBird

Bios corruption? I haven't heard about that with the A7N8X. Which version of the board did you have? I've had mine for about 4 months and it's been running perfectly. It's a 1.04.

Deluxe 1.4...and yes I know it si a bios corruption issue...have had a few of them with my other NF2 boards...doesn't take much to fix that issue...just takes another good NF2 BIOS chip to hot flash the board...then when it boots up with the new one...shut the system down and reinsert the old BIOS and let it reprogram itself...

And Asus does have a bad habit of corrupting the BIOS if you OC to much...
