bolts instead of self-tap screws

i'm sure lots of you have bolted your fans on instead of screws...so my questions are: what size? type? where to get them?

I found that the best are 4mm allen key bolts. I got some that were 80mm long and black, they match up real nice with my case and you can cut them down to size if they are too long.

The only thing is you have to enlarge the holes in the fans so they don't hold the bolts. The nuts I used were matching colour, and use a 8mm spanner.

It cost about 20 bucks for a whole lot of them.

I usually use #8 machine screws and nuts. Depending on your case, you can use 1" screws to set through the first set of holes, or 1 3/4" to go through both. As I use washers for noise reduction, and fan filters, I tend to use slightly longer screws. You can get them at almost any hardware store. #4 and #6 screws will also work, Phillips head or slotted.
