Cheap card that can be easly modded 9500 ??

I am looking for a cheap card that can be modded to give me some good preformance.

People are telling me get a 9500 and mod it to 9700.
can i get any 9500 and mod it to 9700 ?
or does it have to be a specific brand that i can connect the 4 other pipe lines ? Pro or non pro.

Is the hardware mod hard ? or should I stick with the firmware one.

You need a red PCB 9500np with memory in an L-shaped configuration. The chance that it will mod succesfully is not great.

Just looked on NewEgg's site and the correct card is no longer for sale as of this morning. They still have the Radeon 9500 but it is the black PCB version and does not have the L shaped ram configuration. If someone finds more on a different site plz post.

You can try to mod the black pcb type to a 9500 Pro. Also allstarshop might still have the red ones.

I have gotten 3 from newegg in the past few weeks, all 3 modded with out a hitch.. however Newegg is now out of stock but I hear that allstarshop has been sending out cards that look to have a very good success rate..
