This question has been asked way too much:

I have more than 100 posts, why can't I access the Classifieds?
|
There are four possibilites:
The Classifieds require YOUR ISP, .Edu, .Gov or .MIL e-mail on file, many people that ignore this rule may want to read this thread. That courtesy thread in Forum feedback is also posted as a stand alone sticky in ALL eleven subsections of the classifieds, come July, it will have been there for a year. Chances are if you had Classified access and now do not, that's the reason.
Is it your cache?
Clear your browser cache. You will also need to log off of the forums and log back on.
Are you looking in the right place?
Overclockers Forums > Overclocking > Forum Comments and Suggestions --- You are here. If you are in
Overclockers Forums > Overclocking > and cannot find the Classifieds, it is because they are not there. You must go to
Overclockers Forums. The classifieds should be on the bottom. Or you can click
here.
Have you been denied access?
Just PM a moderator and ask. Do not post your question on the forums, unless your begging to be owned publicly by SSS

. You can choose to PM any of the following:
-Silversinksam (
PM)
-Krag (
PM)
-I.M.O.G. (
PM)
They will let you know why you cannot get in. Usually it is due to spamming (which means: making too many non-legitimate posts in an attempt to gain access to the classifieds). If this is the case, they will tell you. It may be for another reason- such as being previously banned from the forums/classifieds and using a different name. It could also be due to not following classifieds rules or moderator requests. PM one of the classifieds moderators, and they will be able to tell you.

How do I tell how many posts I have?

Your post count can be found in your profile. After you post a message somewhere, you can click your name and then "View Public Profile."

Why is 100 posts required. Why not [x] instead?
|
David made an excellect post regarding this and many other frequently asked questions.
100 Posts To View Classifieds
This rule is in place to avoid people getting ''trolled'' in the classifieds. As a safety precaution, all members must have at least 100 posts before they will be allowed access to the classifieds. If these first 100 posts consist of spam, then they will be deleted and classifieds access revoked. This 100 post limit allows the Moderators of the Classifieds (LutaWicasa, Silversinksam and MrB) to ensure that you are not here purely to gain classifieds access and rip people off. Also, anyone with an extremely high number of posts per day will be prevented from accessing the classifieds temporarily so that the moderators can review their posts and make the necessary security checks. These measures have helped ensure that Overclockers.com classifieds are among the safest on the internet. Since these measures were brought in, no-one has been trolled or ripped off here.
Davids thread can be found
here.
One of our troll hunters, Silversinksam, also mentioned this:
This question is brought up at least every few months. It was decided that 100 is written in stone by the members and staff.

Why 100 posts, why not [x] months instead?
|
If we go by time limit, trolls could sign up, leave the forum, and come back [x] months later and have access. This is not wise. At least with the current method, we can observe every new member. By examining100 posts, we can get a good idea of who that person is. The bottom line is- we have been using this 100 post method for a while now. Since it has started, this has been a 100% troll-free zone. "If it works, don't fix it".

Why not 100 posts, plus [x] months time requirement as well?
|
Many have suggested this. Adding more limitations means further inconvenience. Not only for new members, but for the administrators- who have to find new hacks to enable this limitation. The more hacks we have now, the harder it will be to upgrade later. All the hacks we have now have to be carried over to the new vB once we upgrade. Why spend time and dedication on a hack now and have to rehack in a few months for it to be complient with the new version.

OMG I can't wait to get access to the classifieds and get in on all those deals!
|
Trust me- the forums are a real money pit. They were when I first came here. I blew all kinds of money on crap I didn't need. I suppose there could be some deals. But take it from me- it's not all that big of a deal. You will find hotter deals in the cyberdeals section of our forums than what you will see in the classifieds, at least thats IMHO.
If you are looking for real, new in box deals, try these resources.

NewEgg-

Froogle-

The only parts I have in my main rig right now that were obtained from the classifieds is a Eheim water pump, and a video card that screws up my monitors refresh rates, and some ram. All the other stuff I wasted my money on either went into folding things or I donated to my box of used computer parts (which I end up using upgrading old computers--- see my heatware for a list of stuff that I sold/bought that is likely to be found in the forums). If you want real stuff, stick with places like newegg.
