ok when i run riva tuner low level overclocking it states that core@351 mem@ 600 driver level shows that plus core@250 mem@ 400 thats a bit of a difference should i use the low level and apply or is that being overly optimistic

Chances are that you have an older version of Powerstrip that is being confused by your FX. DL a newer one.

Don't know where you heard that, but that's not true. Coolbits is what Nvidia's driver-level overclocking tool is called. There's absolutely nothing wrong with using it. I prefer to use Coolbits for my Nvidia cards.
