Computer free powered usb port

So I'm thinking of picking up one of these but I'd like to be able to charge it without using a computer. How would I go about making a usb port that is simply connected to an ac adaptor, and what voltage dc does the usb port run on? (pretty sure its 5V, though i could be wrong). Would all I have to do is get a female usb connector somehow, and hook up the 5v ac adaptor to the proper wires on the connector?

thanks for any help you can give

I'm a little confused as to what you would like to buy. A Thumb Drive type of thing right?? I was not aware that you had to charge these devices. I thought you just plugged them into your computer and wrote data to them and then just took them out.

It's not just a thumb drive. Its a thumb drive that has a built in battery that allows you to play mp3's that are on it. There are many like this nowadays, like the creative muvo. This one from mushkin is kinda special because it recharges it's own battery while plugged into the usb port, and has a 20 hour battery life. I just want to make a usb port that can be powered by a wall socket so I can charge it when I'm not at my computer for long periods of time

So does anybody know where to find a 5v ac adapter that would power a usb port, and not cost a lot?

My advice would be to pick up a 5v dc transformer from a place like http://www.allelectronics.com and simply replace hte transformer plug with a USB plug. To do THAT you would need to find the pinout for the USB cable and solder the 5 volt and ground lines together.

I think all you would need is a powered USB hub, but I'm not positive that would work. If you do a search on newegg for usb hub and you find one for $12 + $4 shipping

I didn't notice you were in Canada, anywhere that sells PC's or pc parts should sell those too. Its a fairly common device.
