2 and 3 slots dual channel etc

Hi.
I have a Soltek 75FRN2 and have 3no 256 pc3200 ddr Kingston DDR valueram.
I have benched in Sandra and with 2 slots used ie 1 and 3 (512Mb), this is quicker than with all three slots used (768Mb)
Any reason for this?
Thanks
Andy

You should read up on dual channel DDR. You need to install RAM in pairs for use in dual channel systems.

I ahve read in the manual that you can gave three and still have dual. Either the manual is wrong or I'm missing something. I have relied on the manual before purchasing the third stick.

Once you install that third stick, your mem speed drops to the lowest common denominator. In effect, you lose dual channel speeds with the 3rd stick. Now populate all four banks and you'll be back to dual channel, provided the 4th stick is the same as the 3rd.
