Kaypro 4 WOO HOO!

I have found the beast for my next mod, it is a Kaypro 4. What a great find!!! It probably doesn't work, but I'm really hoping it does. If it does work i'll see if I can o/c it and do some case work, if not it'll be a new home for an AMD 1900.

I'm new to this board and I love the old monsters of the 80's, so I'd kind of like to know what kind of old systems people still have(most likely in the closet or attic) and what mods if any.

I know a friend with 2 ataris and a Comodore 64. As for me I have a 66mhz 486 (not that old) and a Celeron 2 that will probly start pulling duty as a file server. Its not that old of stuff but older.

That would make a nice lil server if you could stick some fresh parts in there.

I've got an IBM 5334 or something like that.. its small.. 386 thinking its a 486, built with laptop parts to be a ultra-mini desktop. For some reason IBM liquidated them to Biglots at $300 a pop, and Biglots turned around and sold them for $800 each. Came with a 15" LCD moniter and the usual mouse/keyboard. I've only got the case, but it sits happily running windows 3.1

Well, it seems my kaypro 4 starts up. Now I kind of need boot disks to actually do something with it, I also have to pull the cardboard out of the 5 1/2 inch floppies. If anyone knows how to do that please tell. This system doesn't come with a hard drive, so I cant boot it yet. It kind of reminds me of my first system, the columbia MPC with a shiny new 8088 processor. Though, it was still about 10 years outdated when I first got it.

I kind of skiped over the 286 processor type and went directly to the blazing 386, It was an old gateway that was actually not a tower system! I've used countless systems since then but never actually owned one until maybe last year, which was a pentium 100 I think. Now I have a pentium 133@166, an acer celeron@350 I believe, and soon to have 2 AMD 1900's and am gathering the parts for a watercooling system.

I'll add pictures when I can.
