Ram testng

He's the story, i have my spare xp2000 (pally) in my system at the moment and want to test my new second stick of XMS3200C2 at 200Mhz+. I have used the % option and have ran the CPU at 133 to memory 115%, 120% etc
............ BUT, is this testing my RAM properly considering its running asyncronally. I am using DocMem and Memtest86 to test my module and have had no errors @210Mhz with 5-2-2-2 and only 2.63V (DocMem burnin prog.)
This can't be right can it?? Which made me believe testing Mem out of sync with the CPU doesn't really test the Ram when overlcocked (real life performance). Yay or nay??

it does test your memory. I've only used memtest, and no matter what, it's still only testing your memory. IT doesn't matter if your memory is overclocked or what not, the fact is, it's overclocked, and your memory is being tested at its' overclocked speeds.

Ok thats great, I used memtest with my first module when i had my Tbred running 200Mhz and all i got was freezes after 8 loops running test 5. Thought it was the mobo limit (8rda+ v1.1) so i went down to 166mhz but the same thing, no response after 8 loops. Bad download of memtest86 maybe?? I downloaded DocMem and haven't had any problems. Will try Memtest again tonight with my pally, could have been a defective Tbred.

well if it happened no matter what speed you were running at, it sounds like either a defective floppy or a defective memtest you dled. Or perhaps your hard drive corrupted it by overclocking.

Hdd wasn't corrupted, i'm running an nforce2 (Pci Agp locked). Still to try with my pally because it could have been a malfunctioning Tbred Chip. Ill see what happens .

Memtest does not only test your memory. If your memory controller, CPU, or chipset have issues, then Memtest can pick those up and report them as memory issues. For example, OC your FSB to an unstable, but runable speed. Then underclock your memory. Memtest is likely to give errors due to the FSB being too high.

Just finished testing with Memtest with "All tests" (took 2hrs) running xp2000+ at 139 x 12.5, memory at 166% 225Mhz 6-3-2-2.0 Vdimm 2.77V, with no errors. I received errors with tight timmings 5-2-2-2.0 which im not too fussed about.
225Mhz @ 2.77Vdimm and yet to go higher, not too bad.
With default Vdimm I jumped straight to 210Mhz with no errors, haven't tried any higher.
What do you think? Am i testing correctly by selecting All tests? Will try with DocMem Burn in wizard too later see the diff.

Well i didn't exactly do 12-24hrs of testing, but after 1hr and 100 loops of test 5 in Memtest, i recieved no errors.
My target was 225Mhz but at timings 6-3-2-2.0 and 2.77Vdimm for PC2700 ram, didn't think would happen.
I'll have to wait a couple months and get a board to support 220Mhz+ or up the Vdd again higher then i would normally. Once she blows, get another mobo hehehe. Hmm 2.0Vdd on a 8rda+ any safe (yep got crystal orb sitting on her), bah ...........i'll see!!
