Besides the speed of the CPU, what are some other things i need to look for in a CPU?

price, cache size, possibly overclockability (steppings), price of hte motherboard you want to get that has to be compatable with the cpu. Read the forums a lot, and you will find out what you want to know. ps.. WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

are bus speed important aswell? and how do you tell which is good for overclocking and which is not? thx!

Welcome to the forums...

Depends on what you're will to depart with (money wise)... CPU quality is dependent upon various factors from the manufacturer (intel/amd) but If you want the best cpu/mobo combo (money no objust) go with intel's sprindale chipset and intel cpu p4 2.4GHz (c stepping)... you what to get the most bang for you $$, then get with a AMD XP Tbred/Barton/Thorton.... any of which will do you good. I'm thinking that your interested in OC'n with amd's cpu's, therefore SVC.com might still have the 0319 xp1700 in stock. that particular cpu is averaging between 900 to 1100mhz in oc'ing. There are more limiting factors as well... check out the thread for newbies which explicitly points out the areas in PowerSupply, Memory modules (highquality) motherboards... etc...
