Danner Mag3 flow question.

Just got my mag3 in but I don't have any tubing or other parts until Monday but I am trying to mount it in my case. Which way does the water flow through the pump? Does it go in or pump out the hole in the side of it? Thanks.

it goes in the side and out the top.

If you really needed to find out, just to be sure, put it in a bucket of water and stick your hand it and feel the flow.

I remember my supreme danner mag drive pump had arrows to show inlet/outlet or was that another pump...

I tested mine yesterday, (just got it) stuck it in a bucket of water, plugged it in, and a fountain of water hit the ceiling.

LOL Mustanley. I did the exact same thing on my danner 500gph but I had about 3 foot tubing on the outlet and it went crazy like a firehose. I must have looked ridiculous running around trying to catch it

Heh, I put it sideways in my sink and the damn thing shot water all over my bath room. It's almost crazy we need this much power to push water through 4 feet of tubing.

It's not the four feet of tubing that's the problem...

I just did the same thing Mustanley did with his Mag 3... though I was leaning over the pump at the time

Mag 3 vs. 2 - Is it correct that the only difference is that the impellor has more blades?

I very highly doubt that.

The difference is the head (pump max. height)

The Model 2 has 7 feet of head and uses 22 watts, while the Model 3 has 10.5 feet of head and uses 35 watts.

The model 3 is also physically bigger and has a larger diameter output.

The Model 5 has the same head, but higher flow then the Model 3 and yes, it's an additional 10 watts of power.

I swear I saw something about that on some forums somewhere...Of course these would be the same people that tell you to glue the impeller to the shaft to make it quieter

I tried that with my danner. It works, but... I found that it wouldn't start up right away all the time, there was too much drag because the fact that the impeller is lose helps it kick in by giving it some play, and also alowing it to allow chunks of *stuff through so it won't clog.
