I'm building a new P4 2.6C system, and am deciding which XMS memory to purchase. SInce I am using the 2.6, I will most likely be using the 5:4 divider. In order to run the 3500 memory at spec the FSB be 271.25 with an overclock speed of 3.52 GHz. That seems likely to be close to or over the limit of the processor.

Here's my question. Since the 3500 memory is CAS2 and the 3700 memory is CAS3, should I buy the 3500 to gain a slight performance advantage with the CAS latency? Or, should I buy the 3700 in case I get lucky and get a processor I can push past 3.52 GHz? Also, if anyone has had any good/bad luck trying to overclock the XMS 3500 memory, please let me know.

Then again you might also get lucky with the ram and be able to use the 3500 with cas 2 and overclock the ram to 3700 speeds..

it's cas3 because it's the same ram as the 3200, i can get my 3200 to run at 3700 spec at cas3...well maybe.

Point is

pc3700=pc3200 it's just overclocked

The 3700 is guaranteed to run at 3700 where you have to get "lucky" to get a couple 3200 sticks to run above their 3200 rated speed.
