WIN XP Format HELP!!!

Angry WIN XP Format HELP!!!


D@MN! It figures, i have a lan aprty that needs a server, and i tryed formating the hd from 98 to xp, and it tells me it cant format becaus ethe disk is dammaged! I know its not, but what can i do?

How can i make an Xp starup disk to fromat the drive under MSDOS?

Is there any way to get around this probelm? ANy help, please! FAST!

You could use fdisk, from a 98SE startup disk, to delete the partition and then recreate it. You could also use the 98SE disc, as long as the partition is FAT32, to quick format the partition.

Just type

format c: /q

At the command prompt.

From there you can boot from the XP disc and tell the setup program to leave the partition alone (no changes).

or go to bootdisk.com and get the winXP boot disks.

it takes 6 floppies to make an XP boot disk but I was using one this weekend w/ no problems
