More Halo Info

http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id=15392

Here's a snip :

" Randy Pitchford - There were five big fronts:
1) Networking – We had to re-write the networking system from scratch to make the game playable over the internet. This is a very, very difficult and risky job.
2) Rendering – We moved the game to DirectX 9 and re-wrote all of the pixel shaders. We also took lots of effort to write custom graphics software for lower end hardware in order to promote scalability to a wide range of gamers.
3) UI – The front end and in-game interfaces had to be hugely re-worked to best suit the PC. This included everything from a mouse and keyboard interface to a complete re-do of the front end to allow the configuration, server browsing and configuration options we require on the PC.
4) Audio – The Xbox is a very powerful console with custom audio hardware that simply does not exist for the PC. We had to re-write most (if not all) of the audio processing systems and utilize multiple playback solutions to recreate the award winning music and sound effects of Halo without compromise.
5) Content – We love the game, but wanted more. So we created it – new weapons, vehicles, maps, etc. This took learning and time – Halo has a very unique content path. "

There will unfortunately be no co-op mode

I bet it will come out very soon, as the PR has increased 10 fold in the last month.

So far from everything I have read, its basically the XBOX version with DX9 plus everything people wanted added, minus co-op. Even without the co-op this game is not going to disapoint. Probably will be one of the top games of the year.

Yes co-op was the best way to play the XBOX version, but I havn't played a PC game in co-op mode since doom II. So realistically I really don't feel its a huge loss.

They put more effort into the PC port then they did making the original XBox game. With all that effort to bring it to PC I'm surprized Co-op is the only thing to get cut from the game.

by the time Halo comes on PC most probably Halo 2 would be out for xbox this will ensure microsoft that

1. they earn money on an existing title
2. they earn money on a new title
3. they manage to sell more of their xbox's to people for sake of playing halo2 (those people who have not yet bought xbox)

Hope they down the pistol power and up some of the other guns in multi. With a keyboard and mouse pistol will be ridiculous, even with console controller it is insanely powerful in multi.

Good stuff to hear all around. This sounds like it will be phenominal.

The team at Bungie won't let us down (even if they are owned by Microsoft)
