This is with an Antec True Power 430 and ABIT NF7-S. Do I need to use the 4pin connector (the square looking one)? What does it do exactly? Should it be connected as well as the main power connector?

yes connect that. the nf-7 gewts the cpu core voltage from the 12v rail. that plug provides auxilary power and improves stability.

that's the 12v connector specifically for the CPU's increasing power needs...

stick it in

woops, looks like i was beaten to the punch

but still, stick it in

I says in the manual that you don't have to. Its installed to split the 12v amp load over another connector for stability. So if your psu has it, use it.
