well if you're talking about Vcore than that changes per what CPU you use. i don't know about other motherboards but i have an NF7-S and i can change my Vcore from 1.5-2.3, i beleive it goes that high. so yes they can.

I'm guessing your talking about Vdd.. the newest EPoX boards come with Vdd up to 2.0

my nf7-s allows from 1.0v to 2.3v

i currently have an MSK K7N2(delta) which only goes to 1.8.. I know if I can get over 2.0 I can hit 2500 Mhz or more with the 2800 Barton......

i have the SLK800 w/tornado 7 6000 rrm and artic silver 3, with a cheiftec case, that has 3 exaust fans, one blow hole at the top with a 120 mm exaust, and 3 fans blowing air in with an additional video card side fan(120 MM)... My case temps never go over 29 c, and my CPU doesnt ever go over 35 c with the 1.85 vs that its already on... I THINK I CAN HANDLE 2 Vs!

Well that's just fine then jkilla74. I think emericanchaos' point was that most Athlon XP CPU's don't handle 2 volts very well. The side effect is an extreme amount of heat and a chance that your CPU won't take it at all, and fry rather quickly unless it's got some major cooling (think water cooling.)

Most people don't even like to run a Vcore beyond 1.85v. That should serve as a warning. ;)

1.85 VCore is as far as i'll go with my pally, generally i'll limit myself to 0.15 over default VCore.... any further and i get uneasy.

here's the specs for the NF7-S from abit's website

http://www.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webj...p?pPRODUCT_TYPE=MotherBoard&pMODEL_NAME=NF7-S

the only thing that limits this board is the 1.7V max for the northbridge voltage (which i think is the reason these are normally limited to 230Mhz fsb +/- a few Mhz).

yeah my point was that 2V is alot of juice for any tbred B cpu. you have a tremendous amount of air cooling but air cooling none the less. water is alot more efficient and that's why i suggested to go that route. alot of people say that an slk 800 with a tornado is about equal to water cooling if you don't factor in the noise level.

i'm not trying to talk you out of it i'm just trying to let you know that 2V is pretty serious and you should have some type of cooling beyond air to deal with it.

the thing is more voltage = stability/higher speeds but it also means more heat. more heat means less stability so you could be shooting yourself in the foot on this because you don't have efficient cooling.

by all means try it though and see what your temps are like.

EDIT: btw, 29C is like close to 90 farenheit. that's not exactly good. your room must be pretty hot. if you could lower your room temps or put a box fan on your case that might help things a bit. my case temp is 24C and i only have 1 fan going in(120mm stealth) and 1 exhaust fan (generic 92mm from an IBM server) and a 40CFM sunon on my slk 800.

I don't mean to be rude but 29ºC is only 83ºF. And I think you're right you should definitely have something more efficient than air to cool a 2v TbredB
