quantum bigfoot

io ran sandras file system test on my 4 gig bigfoot i got, to see if it was worth running CCDs off of it instead of my maxtor's partition, and it got like 5000 while my maxtor got like 30000. is it THAT slow? and would it be worth it to find a couple more and run them in RAID 0? or would it still be slow? i have an ATA100 card i can flash to a RAID, so thats ok there. thanks yalls

They were extremely slow, yes. These 4Gb drives ran at 4.2K rpm. These drives were built for being cheap, *not* fast.
With today's HD sizes, the idea of offering a cheap 4Gb drive seems silly... and I guess that goes for the idea of RAIDing two or more of these things as well.

That's what you get for paying extra for the 'quality brand name' I suppose.
