I am the luckiest guy alive as far as computers go.

my saturday started out, as anyone who saw my rant about the breaker box not being a toy in Gripes and Mmoans, with some fool popping breakers on and off.

Making my computers go on and off, on and off, repeatedly. UGH! Lucky me, no damnage

Then, later that day..a terrible, TERRIBLE fracking storm.. one that was spewing hail a damn inch and a half wide rolled in, I had like three massive lightening strikes.. Literally right in my yard. I mean, so close.. I felt it in my body.. This also made the local power [ which is not wired right to begin with ] to go on and off on and off all through the night. ARGH. I mean, fresh lightbulbs.. no more than an hour old, blew from a big surge.

Still no damage.

All I can say is, damn..all thoughout that hellish saturday.. and all I lost was two cheap lightbulbs. I've got the luck of the damned! or something

Or a half-decent surge protector.

Actually, in a case of not paying enough attention when putting the system back together after moving it across the house, I had it plugged into a 6 outlet plug thingy, not a surge protector, just a basic plug thingy.

Hence the post, forgot to add that tho.. My bad

No, it's just saving up. One day you'll come home, and your computer won't even be there... it'll be a giant smoking black stain on your desk...

My power goes out on occasion during power storms multiple times. I knew my computer turning on and off repeatedly couldnt be good so I changed the setting in bios to not turn the computer back on after a power failure.

On an related, ironic note, there is already a black stain on my desk that, at one point, did smoke.

Heh, with our power company, the power goes out every time it clouds over.... I haven't had and surge problems so far, and my computer stays on during the worst of lightning storms, even the ones that make the satellite dish lost the signal, which takes a LOT.

Most surge protectors if you read them are not made for systems running over 600 - 700Mhz, many of us have our systems overclocked that much,

anyone know if surge Protectors daisy chained would add to the protection??

I think daisy chaining decreases the effectiveness of all the strips.
