is this best memory for lowest cost?

found Corsair 1024MB PC3200 TWINX1024-3200C2PT XMS Dual Channel DDR400 w/Platinum Heat Spreader - Retail for 230.00 usd and i am going to overclock a p4-2.4c-800fsb. i want to get a 1gig stick of 3200 ram, the m/b most likely will support 4 gig in 4 slots. Looking for anything else comparable with cas 2 low latency all that good stuff....

i plan on overclocking to at least 3.5ghz...

i dont see why those boards are putting in slots and allowence for that much ram. i mean, 4gb? thats crazy. most games are best at 512. and only a few programs made would use over a gig. i guess they are planning for the future with that board. still crazy. i think they should only have that option on high end boards, else they are just trying to appeal to kids that dont know any better (wow mom! i can put 4gb of ram in my comp now!)

sorry, off topic.

Welcome to the forums!!!

Corsair doesn't make 1gb 3200 modules. The part you're looking at is a kit with 2 x 512mb. If you plan on o/c'ing it, skip the PC3200 memory and look for something much faster, especially if you want to get to 3.5ghz. Also, forget about CAS2 memory at higher speeds.

tgp - Not everyone that buys these boards use them for gaming. Some people actually work . There are some apps that require 1gb minimum and run better over 2gb. And these are highend boards

That's 2x512.. definately not good for the cost if you ask me. I'd stay away from that stuff.. you can way better stuff for cheaper like TwinMos 3200 /w CH-5 chips.. I'm sure you can find some beter OCZ or GeIL for cheaper too.

Probably 3500 (maybe more if you can afford it)... faster you can get the better (obviously lol).
