I just got 2500 barton from Newegg, best speed 160*12.will not
take any other multiplier.I used voltage up to 1.8.Mobo seems
to be fine with xp2100 bcore at 2600
Should I RMA the BARTON ???? i also flashed new bios from Abit.
Now it recognizes it but wil not post at even factory seting
2500/333. Thanks for the input.

Ok edited cos I reread your post

You say that the Barton doesn't even work with 160FSB? It's supposed to do 166, and by my estimation that's a mere 100Mhz OC - so you probably haven't killed the chip.

This is a sticky one but I would say RMA it as it barely does stock speeds - test it out at stock and run prime95 - if that generates errors then the chip is probably a semi-dud.

well he cant test it at stock, as stock is 11x166, and apparently he cant go above 166 nor can he use any other multiplier but 12...so somethings gone horribly wrong there.
