If you can see this........

I'd like to thank many of you for taking the time you've put in to these forums to make them what they are today!

Hours upon hours of time were involved to get you here, which was obviously spent asking questions or answering them. While I realize ALL of us engage in chit chat of one sort or another, I'll also be reviewing members here to find the overall quality of your posts, and deciding if your post count should be reduced. After some very brief searches, the post limit was set based on the members who would be able to access this area, and the quality of their posts. It was necessary to set it this high, to obtain the calibur of members, most all of you seem to be.

I'm not trying to threaten anyone, but I AM trying to make you aware of just how serious I'm taking this forum. The GC forum open to everyone was a horrible failure, but an attempt, on my part, to keep the sense of "community" we all enjoy here. If this forum fails also, we will never allow another GC area.

Please keep the discussions reasonable. While I realize a lot of you enjoy cars, they generally turn in to rice burner vs american muscle........or some such nonsense. I don't care if you have bubble gum stuck in your hair! (yes we had a thread like that once that just urked me to no end!) We'll moderate this forum quite a bit at first........but I hope to losen up a bit once it gets rolling if it remains reasonable. ANY "my xxx post!" threads will be deleted on sight. I think you guys can get the picture.

I don't always have the best way with words.......so I'm asking Nihili to edit my post to get across, what I'm trying to express. I just wanted something up here immediately to welcome you all!

The actual post limit here is not firm, and could change at any time. Don't ask yet, what it is........

And, a HUGE thanks to Nihili for this design. He has spent the last couple weeks asking questions and coming up with the layout. While we've offered input, and I've done the leg work, HE has more in to this than anyone.

The threads I would like to avoid most are the one's attempting to generate responses.......the pointless ones. Like "what's your favorite color" ............. If you have nothing to say, then find something you can answer in another forum.......after all, that's what got you here in the first place no?

This is a great idea Shadow. Hopefully this board will be all that GC wasn't.

Giving access to responsible and dedicated members, this board should host some interesting and intelligent conversations.

By the way, what was the cut off for post counts?

Thanks. I really do hope these changes are for the better. Good luck.

EDIT: It looks like the post count is 7/+ stars, whatever that may be.

can't say what the post limit is just yet, as we're not exactly sure ourselves.

Yah, makes sense.

Is it just post count, or is there a 'screening' process?

I'm guessing that's the part of your post that Nihili edited?

Great
Lets keep this forum in shape... Maybe that'll be easier with members who have been here longer and know the rules? (not in any way tring to put down very new members, some of the guys who lurk here with 10 or 20 posts may have just a good idea of the forum's rules that we do.

I miss GC, but i can see what the problem was and hopefully this is for the best, in the long term

you know i've never made it to senior member, but i do feel a little bit of recognition now that i'm one of the members that can get in here, especially knowing that the mods had to manually do a review of my history here on the forums to get in.

thanks all, and here's to hoping that this forum goes well.

Wow, I just got back from vacation. Two days away and Shadow decides to change everything. GREAT!

lol, j/kin.

I like the new layout. I remember seeing a thread about this in the forum comments and suggestions forum. This will definately help cut down SPAM, and stupid posts. I also really like this forum, I don't know exactally what i'm supposed to post here, but I think I'll read around a sec and figure it out.

I really hope this works out, and I think it will with the cooperation of everyone here. If you see someone out of line we can all do our part and give them a quick PM reminder or something along those lines. I know its the mods & admins job to keep people in line but the we are a community and we all should help out whenever we can. we all know our mods, admins and senoirs do a LOT of work around here, let help them out, whether it be giving someone a reminder... or just keeping your mouth shut.... LETS DO OUR PART AND MAKE THIS A BETTER PLACE!

Good job guys/gals
