Suggestion : Temporarily Allow all users to view this forum.

I can see that a few people have become disgruntled by the fact that they can not get into this forum. I suggest that we allow all members (100+ posts) to view this forum for a few days, just to see wha it is all about.

-or-

Hide it completely. I would actually rather see this, because people do not need to know its here.

I would put this in the forum comments section, but shadow already said not to mention it outside of this forum.

If you dont have access to it I dont think you can see it listed at all . It is kind of like the blue/green rooms if I am not mistaken. Those not included are clueless as to its existance.

As for letting everyone in, I don't think it is going to happen. The main reason for blocking non dedicated members is to prevent spam.

That would only encourage spamming, even though there is no postcount requirement publicized. Furthermore, it would probably lead to resentment by some of the members of those who are allowed in here.

It's harder to want what you can't see.

everyone knows what the post limit is since its been viewable.

when you click on it and you don't have enough posts it says you must have 997 posts.

if it woulda been inviso from the start they would still be in suspense as to the number cause they wouldn't have a forum to click to get the error message

Can we not make it invisible from this point on, so that possibly everyone will stop thinking a/b it as much.

I think keeping it completely invisible would be the best plan. Nobody is mad about not being in the blue room. People will be mad when they try to read the posts and are given a message that they aren't special enough yet.

EDIT: I thought the classifieds were invisible to non-100 post count people? I know, at least, that I can't see them when I'm not cookied and logged in.

check out the forum properties on the other inviso forums and see if youve got a setting off.

I agree with invisibility. Out of sight, out of mind. It'll be like the blue and green room.

Well the Blue room is... if there even is one. I have no idea what is going on with the blue room situation, and I think that's how this should be handled.

and mr. b.... i caught that! ... I guess the classifies really are visible then . I remembered seeing a msg that said I could not access the classifies way back in they day. Although, I think we have upgraded the software since then....

You're pretty sure its there but never have enough proof or hersay to even bother mentioning it.

I think in order to make this room invisible, it must be in a separate sub catagory, just like the classifieds are.

we have two sub forums:

"Overclockers Forums" and "Classifieds"

By default, anyone can see the overclockers forums. It holds almost everything. But you need 100 posts to see the classifieds subforum.

What the admin needs to do here, is make this room part of a third subforum: "General Discussion", and make that a post count of [xxx] <-- the magic number. And then when reviews start taking place, the mods/admins can manually give access to certain people based on whether they qualify.

This is how the classifieds work... and they are invisible if you dont have 100 posts. That is also what we need to do to this category- make it a subforum and make postlimits enabled to the magic [xxx] number.

i think its a great idea keeping the post count close to 1k. It will give people some thing to work for. I also agree about hiding it if at all possible...

again, it's not possible to make this invis.

Blue room is visiable to seniors because they have a different rank. If everyone with 1k posts had a different rank, I could do it.

classifieds are visiable to anyone with under 100 posts, as long as you're not set to "no classifieds" which is a different rank.

it has nothing to do with categories......the blue room is under overclocking......it's not it's own sub forum.

trust me......I'm pretty good at my job.

what about having like a "dedicated member" rank at 997 posts, then having something else to replace the other dedicated member thing? will that work?

Someone (Shadow рс, Newbie_Doo, JoeC or ocskip) would have to go around promoting everyone though. Sounds like a lot of hassle for little gain to me.
