I'm looking to spend up to 50$ on a new PSU right now i have so no name 500watt and is horrible but what did i expect for like $10 whenever I try to up the voltage the PSU has a heart attack. any suggestiions on a new PSU?

Don't bother with the 400W version of the sparkle, It's 15A 12V output is the same as the 350 and 300W models. This means they drive about the same load in reality as the 12V is the heavily loaded line in the modern PC.

Consider the following.

or

or splurge and get:

The third unit, the 120mm 350, is actually rated at 16A on the 12V line, rather than the 400's 15A. The first two are 15A units.
After this the next steps in power are the 530 Fortron ($75) or the Antec True Power 430-550 ($75-100).

Fortron makes and owns Sparkle, they are the same units. Fortron supplies are about the best quality and most cost effective supplies available. Of reasonably priced units the only other ones I recommend are the Antec True Power 430+ supplies, and they cost at least $70. The 300 and 350W Fortron units will run an AthlonXP at 2.5GHz or a P4 at 3.2GHz for half that. If you have higher goals spend the money on a 430 True Power or the Fortron 530.

The SL series is ok, but not quite as capable as the Truepower series... the 450 should be decent.

Antec seems to be the way to go from what I've read if your gonna overclock and the 430 and 480 most recommended.
Like previously stated don't skimp one the psu, it's the lifeblood of the system.:)

You must keep in mind that wattage is nothing without a good quality name brand. There are a lot of members here who thought they could save a few bucks on a PSU but what they really did was end up buying another PSU having to learn the lesson the hard way.

Larva provided you with a great, cheap PSU that many people have and they're very satisified with it. I'd highly recommend the Forton PSUs. ;) Besides, Larva is just some PSU maniac hehe!

Well i got a 420W Chieftec dual fan. fro real cheap (like 35 canadian) from tigerdirect.com

It got a decent rating form tom's hardwareguid.
