FX 5600 Ultra problems

I just recieved a new chaintech 5600 ultra and I'm having some problems. I installed it and loaded the drivers that came on the disc and it took me fine to the desktop (Running win 2k pro on a dual athlon 1700+ MSI K7D).... anyway, it seems to work fine there, but when I start up a 3dmark 2K1SE it crashes by the 3rd test if not before. When it dies, the screen goes blanc and the monitor does one of two things, either goes into power saver mode (and aparently the comp locks) , or gives me a v synch out of range message.

I tried running some other games specifically nascar 2003 and got it to run at low res (800x600x16), but if I go to 32 bit color or higher res it either gives lots of artifacts or behaves like 3dmark. I thought maybe I had some corrupted files, so I reinstalled the video driver and DX9, and that didn't help, then downloaded 44.03 from nvidia and tried that. after all this didn't work, I did a fresh OS install, but I still got the same results. After the OS install I reinstalled my old card (GeForce2 GTS PRo) from the same driver file I used to install the new one just to check out running things at high settings. It seemed fine, so now I am at a loss.

The various things I have read made the errors the monitor was giving sound like the card is not giving the monitor useful frequencies. I tried the override freq. tab in the options......I need some advice please. I am doing something wrong, or should I RMA this card? Thanks in advance for your help.

What power supply do you have? The FX series of cards needs a minimun of 350w power supply ( at least I heard ). Also they are very picky, so make sure its a quality power supply.

I'm running an Antec truepower 550W supply, and the voltages all seem nice and stable. I really don't think that's the problem.

Does it just click off or does it start making some real f*&$ed up jestures and then turnes off or freezes?

When it crashes in 3dmark, it usually is in the transition from test 2 to 3 and it does just 'click off'. I have had it crash a couple of times by going completely crazy as I started up 3dmark. Then the screen would tear to shreads.....Looks like none of the horizontal lines are lining up and seems to freeze at the same time.
I tried once with warcraft 3 and the monitor gave me the vsynch out of range message and I could hear the music for the game playing, but try as I might I couldn't get back to the desktop..... That has been the only timee that happened though, and I couldn't get it to crash that way again.....(Pretty sad when you're just wanting it to crash the same way twice). Please let me know anything else that might be helpful.

I did some swapping of components today with a machine at work. I stuck the vid card in my comp. there and it worked ok. Then I hooked up my monitor and that seems ok also. This leads me to believe that I have a mainboard voltage regulation problem. The dual athlon already sucks up alot... I'll see what MSI has to say about it. Thanks
