Is it supposed to look like a comic book?

Yes. Thats what cell shading is, a drawn picture with the color added in. From what I understand from reading about the game is that there is some new things that are opened up by doing a game this way, some visual effects are easier to render.

the agme was based on a comic book. that's why everything looks like it, such as a three-panel still shot when you get a head shot, and you have another sense that let's you "see" danger, like the words tap, tap of a guard walking behind a door. and you see the letters of AAAAAH when a guy falls off a cliff.

Yeah, they tried the cell shading with a Batman release not too long ago but the game wasnt all that great. I had forgot that XIII was based on a comic though.

well the game isn't out yet, so mebbe they'll fix the bugs....this is one of the games that i've been looking forward too. I'll probably get the demo sometime soon......I hope it turns out good, or else I'll be disappointed.....and I hate being disappointed, lol.

edit:

forgot to mention, believe it or not that is the Unreal Warfare engine....amazing what they've turned it into, lol.

The mouse even on the least sensitivity is way to jumpy, which makes it difficult to aim.

No quicksave means you cant save right before doing something stupid, or not knowing what to do... etc

I was looking forward to this, especially with all the hype. I've seen much better cel shading... Wind Waker is the best cel shaded game, but even Jet Set Radio looked better then this

well, as long as the final release is bug-free, I'll get it. I'm hoping that they work on that stuff.....but I'll definately be reading reviews of it before I get it.

I liked the gameplay and such, particularly the sniper crossbow, but it had a couple of problems for me:

1. I got artifacts in the upper lefthand corner where the little comic frames appear--really annoying.

2. The no-save thing sucks. just sucks. I'd play the second level some more, but the forst minute of it is crawling out of that accursed ventilation shaft!

Well after playing it a while, I must say I don't like it. Sure it looks great, but the gameplay just seems bland.

The little 3 panel thing when you get a headshot is really cool though.

If you notice with the 3 panel shot thing, in each pane they get hit some where else...
