Slit Edge or MCW5000-A?

They both perform about the same, but the Slit Edge has slightly less head loss than the MCW5000. But then the MCW5000 is less likely to trap air bubbles... They both cost about the same too.

So which would you go for and why?

The MCW5000, in case you wanna run a pelt setup some time. I also think Swiftech has better build quality than becooling.

Yeah, swifty is solid. And Northwestern U? I grew up like five minutes from there, and my boss is one of its alumni. I used to deliver food to their dorms when I was a delivery boy

A couple things to keep in mind:

The MCW5000 only mounts with a socket tab system and some have had problems with adequate pressure.

To the best of my knowledge, the Slit Edge only mounts to the motherboard holes.

Looking deeper into BillA's reviews on the frontpage, the tied C/W of the two blocks is at 3.8 lpm - a puny 57 GPH more or less. With a danner 3 350 GPH & 11' head in my system, I'll be pushing an estimated four times that amount of water. In higher flow setups the Slit Edge goes to around .21 C/W, whereas the MCW5000 stays near .23, .22. Plus with less flow resistance that should help out with the rest of my system.

So now it's looking like a Slit Edge + MCW50 for my 9700pro, unless anyone else has more input.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in your case I believe you'll see maybe a 2C difference in temps.

I don't know much about the Slit Edge but I am happy with my MCW5000 and mcw50. There's just something about having a matching set of blocks too...

Yeah. I can't wait to start September 18th.

Might as well go for the slit edge - mounting holes are probably more consistant than the lugs.

MCW5000 is a great block, i am using it. excellent temps. it mounts using the stock tabs or the mounting holes in the mother board (i am using the motherboard mounting holes) the mounting hole kit is around 6 bucks. you can order it from cooltechnica or from swiftec direct....

Yeah, I was ready to order but they were out of stock. Oh well, I'm about to spend $40 more but at least now I'll be all 1/2" and not have to deal with reducers.

Ahh. Thanks for the correction. I wasn't aware of a mobo hole option.

I have a SlitEdge as well as a WhiteWater. The SlitEdge replaced the WhiteWater which went to a higher heat load rig. The SlitEdge comes close to the WW, perhaps within 1-2C for my rig. Your mileage will probably vary.
