I know i got a virus, have no idea how i got and i go to run norton anti virus and it wont let me. i think my anti virus is infected. do i re-install it?

Couple options:
1. Open up task manager, and end-task any processes that aren't familliar. Then try to start norton. (Probably won't work)
2. Use a free online scanner, like http://housecall.antivirus.com
3. Boot into safe mode, and scan your files (the virus shouldn't be active then)
4. Boot off your norton av cd, it should have a virus scanner in it.

If you can't clean it, get the name of the virus, and punch it into here. Chances are there is a removal tool, or a description of how to remove it.
Good luck.

You can also use PandaSoftware Antivirus , it has a free scanning engine you can use. They also have an utility to remove the problem virus.

I had a virus problem that "Norton" could not see, my ISP recommended Panda, it worked.
