Next gen core for intel cpus

When is the next major core change (like the one from pentium 3 to pentium 4) for Intel?

Somewhere in the 2006-2007 time frame, there will be a chip that's not based on the Netburst architecture. Its code name is Nehalem, but that's about the most info you'll find about it.

Between now and then there will be Prescott, Tejas, and possibly a Tejas successor, which are all somewhat related to the current P4s.

Nehalem could come as soon as 2005 I'd say. Prescott and Teja will take up most of 2004 and possibly 2005, but if competition pushes it, Intel could accelerate developement and release Nehalem in late 2005 like Prescott is being released late this year.

Maybe Intel will get funky and badge the Prescott the "Pentium V"! The name alone is sufficient to speak of a true next gen core!
