Yes, I know the forum says general HARDWARE, but this is more or less a general SOFTWARE question.

I am interested in hosting pictures for people. As in hosting just a directory (I think that is what they are called) with tons and tons of pictures. If I can get this working, and if it is fast enough, I probably wouldn't mind hosting some pictures for the classifieds... That is if I can get this to work. I frankly don't know what questions to ask, so searching pretty much did me no good either.

I think you are looking for some sort of FTP hosting site. Which stores pictures and video. But of course you may mine something else.
