Is SSE faster than 3DNOW?

I was looking at the logs on my linux box that is running the 3.24 version of the client so it changes to 3DNow after completing a work unit if I don't restart the client. On my machine, it seems that 3DNow is faster by about 30 seconds per frame when the system is not under any load on the 572 gromacs. Is this result atypical of what you guys are seeing? Is it just a linux thing? It doesn't matter much, but I just noticed it and was curious.

SSE is faster than 3dnow by a good amount. It should not matter if it is windows or linux I wouldn't think but I could be wrong.

I dunno. Perhaps I'm just talking out of my rear. I just see that on average I am getting about 12 minutes a frame flat with 3dnow and 12 minutes 30 seconds a frame from SEE on my Athlon XP 1700+ running 166*10. Occasionally, the SSE drops below 12 minutes a frame on the 572, but just barely, and then it jumps back to about the former speed. None of this is exact math mind you. Just me looking at the log file and doing math in my head.

I am running a 2.6 test kernel if that matters at all.
