win XP automatic update qvestion


hi guys,

i`am running win XP and i tried to diseble the automatic update feature ,so i went to control panel-performance maitanance-system and automatic update but there i could not change the settings it sas: The windows update service is unavailable.

did i miss something here?i got all the latest patches installed

Start...Control Panel...System...Automatic Updates...

Uncheck the box.

i know but its unavailable thats what i`am saying

it seems like one of the latest patches i installed yesterday from microsoft disable my automatic update in window XP,wow the MSBLAST worm really annoys them

Start | Run | Type services.msc and click OK | Right click "Automatic Updates" in the RH pane and select "Properties" | Under the "Startup type" field, select "Automatic" from the drop-down menu and then click the "Start" button (under "Service status").
