Corsairs low latencies

I received some Corsair 3200LL ram and found that I got revision 1.2 with latencies 2-3-2-6. What I thought I was getting was 2-2-2-6 which when I looked in pictures said rev. 1.1.

Hmmm...A newer revision with worse timings? I was somewhat mad but who knows.

I wrote a review at newegg and posted the question: what revision everyone else received and what the timings were and they (newegg) edited it out of the post.

I wonder what is going on.

Edit: I also checked the 2700LL and they run 2-3-2-5 when i swore they were 2-2-2-5 at one time

ever tried setting it to 2-2-2-6 and seeing if it's stable?

With the shortage of BH-5 chips, Corsair and other memory manufacturers now use CH-5s, which can't handle the lower latencies. So the timings are now 2-3-2. However, Mushkin does have stuff with BH-5s, but at a high cost. Your CH-5s may be able to run at 2-2-2, mine can.

i post at 2-2-2 but cannot load windows. kinda sucks but it is just one timing (ras to cas) so it still runs well.

I may have to take off my 'spreaders to see what chips i have.

Honestly, I kinda figured Corsair changed the timings to 2-3-2 because of the problems with the new Intel boards not liking 2-2-2 (although I never had a problem).. I'm pretty pleased with my 7 month old TwinX 3200LLPT, it does PC3500 at 2-3-3-7 without any hiccups. I've honestly thought about going for DDR500 with 3-4-4-8 just to see what happens.

yeah that ddr500 is pretty rad. I bet you could get those speeds maybe...with 3-4-4-8 timings you might be able to.

If not maybe 3700 with 3-4-4-8 since what you are running now is basically 3500C2. I think they are all similar or same chips just clocked different and different latencies like TheMatrixHasYou said.

True what said above. Test the memory and see what you
can get out of it. Mine are rated at 2-2-2- and are older, but
I don't see anyone letting a few stickers on the cover get in the
way of sqeezing out the performance!

As for removing the heat spreaders...dude, when you buy
Corsair, you buy LIFETIME WARRANTY. That's half of why
Corsair is one of the best, and why you pay the premium.
The other half is that they run AT LEAST the rated speed.

Besides, what pulling off the covers and reading the chips
going to do besides void the warranty. Is it going to make
them go faster simply because you know whats under there?

Nah, just beat em up and see what they can do!! No matter
what you got good memory!
